A Farnham Estate wedding full of family
Jennie and Craig’s Farnham Estate wedding was elegant, emotional and full of the people they love most. From a champagne-fuelled morning with the bridesmaids to a gazebo ceremony on Farnham Lawn and quiet portraits by the lake, every moment felt effortless and completely them.
Farnham Estate, Co. Cavan
Set among woodland and lakes just outside Cavan town, Farnham Estate is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Ireland. Its story goes back to 1613, and for more than three centuries it was home to the Maxwell family, later the Earls of Farnham. The elegant Georgian wing that still stands today was designed by architect Francis Johnston in the early 1800s.
Today the estate is a spa and golf resort where couples can say “I do” in the white gazebo on Farnham Lawn, then wander the lakeshore and historic interiors for portraits that feel both grand and intimate.
A morning full of family
The day began slowly and beautifully. Jennie’s dress hung in the window, catching the soft light over the gardens, while her bridesmaids filled the room with laughter in matching pyjamas. There were hugs with the youngest members of the family, a champagne toast straight from the bottle and, finally, the moment her dad opened the door and saw his daughter as a bride for the first time.

Jennie and Craig said their vows in the white gazebo on Farnham Lawn, surrounded by their family and friends in black tie. Little flower girls with baskets of gypsophila sat with their grandparents, and when the newlyweds finally walked back down the aisle hand in hand, the whole lawn erupted in applause.
Lakeside portraits and timeless interiors
Farnham Estate has some of the most beautiful portrait spots of any wedding venue in Ireland. We took Jennie and Craig down to the edge of the lake for a few quiet minutes away from the crowd, then back inside to the historic house: a carved antique chaise, tall Georgian windows and the sweeping staircase, photographed from above as they looked up together.
